HYDROPINIC TREATMENT (also in agreement with the National Health Service)
The therapy consists of drinking thermal water from the Alloch thermal spring.
The therapeutic benefits of hydropinic treatment can be summarised mainly as diuretic, detoxifying and antioxidant action. The most significant effect of our water, which is rich in sulphate, calcium, and magnesium, is increasing transit speed in the intestine and improve nutrients absorption. It has excellent results in cases of spastic colitis with alternating constipation and diarrhoea. Moreover, it has laxative and purgative effects. The mineral salts contained in our water are metabolised and used in the liver to protect cells from degeneration induced by substances such as arsenic, phosphorous and phenol necrosis.
The therapy
At Terme Dolomia, the hydropinic treatment consists of drinking thermal water from the Alloch spring. The water needs to be drunk at its normal temperature and it has neither a bad smell, nor flavour. We recommend drinking thermal water in the morning, before breakfast, to help the body absorb the water’s properties, enhancing the therapeutic properties of the Alloch spring. After the medical examination, the recommended therapy is 2 cups of thermal water per day between meals drunk slowly.
The effects
The benefits on metabolism can be summarised as a reduction in blood glucose, a reduction in cholesterol and triglyceride through the stimulation of liver enzyme activity. Moreover, having a high calcium content, it locally increases calcium fixation by stimulating bone neoformation and is particularly indicated in the prevention of osteoporosis. It is not indicated in cases of chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer, and gallstones.
Benefits:

INHALATION THERAPY (12 aerosol + 12 inhalation, also in agreement with the National Health Service)
The inhalation therapy is recommended for fighting different pathologies of the respiratory system, including those of an allergic nature and middle ear, it is also particularly suitable for your children. Our thermal water from the Alloch spring helps solving chronic inflammatory problems through the humidification and regeneration of the mucous membranes, anti-inflammatory activity, mucolytic, mucus regulator, protecting the respiratory system from a potential relapse and strengths the immune defences. Long term results are a reduction in the number and intensity of acute episodes and less use of drug therapies. For the inhalation therapy, Terme Dolomia offers the opportunity to benefit from numerous treatments, such as: thermal steam inhalation, micronized aerosol, nasal douche and humage.
The cure
Thermal steam inhalation: is a method that fragments thermal water into small particles, forming a steam jet that is inhaled by the patient. The temperature of the steam jet is about 37 to 39°C. The steam jet also contains gases that are released into the inhaler during the fragmentation process. The patient sits approx. 20-25 cm from the dispenser and inhales through mouth and nose; each session takes about 10 minutes. Our Scientific Committee recommends it as a preparatory treatment for the other inhalation therapies.
Micronized aerosol: is made of fine thermal water particles, capable of reaching even the smallest branches of the respiratory tree. Compressed air is used for the fragmentation of water particles to achieve a size of less than 3 microns to reach the lower respiratory districts. The inhaled aerosol has the same temperature of the thermal spring. The patient, after the medical examination and depending on the pathology to be treated, uses a mask, a nasal fork or a snorkel directly connected to the dispenser through a rubber tube. Each session lasts approx. 10 minutes in which the patient inhales a litre and a half of water.
Nasal douche: this treatment presents thermal water particles which are bigger than the ones from the other therapies, it has a temperature of about 37°C and it is needed to cleanse the mucus membrane from scabs and removes stagnant secretions. The thermal water flows, at a very low pressure, through a special sprinkler into one nostril causing it to flow out of the opposite nostril. The Scientific Committee of Terme Dolomia recommends that this therapy precedes the other treatments in the inhalation cycle, since the cleansing of the nasal mucosa prepares the tissues to better receive the active ingredients of the other inhalation applications. It lasts about 10 minutes.
Humage: it is a dry inhalation therapy, where only thermal water gases are used (hydrogen sulphide, etc.) and they are created with a special method of bubbling air into the thermal water. The patient inhales the gases through a mask, obtaining a deep and abundant penetration of the gases into the respiratory system and sinuses. The Thermal Scientific Committee recommends that this therapy precedes the other inhalation treatments, since it tends to dry the airways. It lasts about 10 minutes.
Sonic aerosol: this variant of the aerosol therapy is characterized by the association of sound wave flow with small sulphur particles that acquire a particular kinetic pattern. The treatment helps the aerosol particles entering the sinuses – which are difficult to reach, even by drug therapies – and in the tympanic tube district. Sonic aerosol is specifically for chronic rhino-sinusitis and adjuvant in the treatment of chronic catarrhal otitis media and chronic catarrhal otosalpingitis.
Ionic aerosol: in this type of aerosol, the particles are negatively ionized, so by repelling each other, they spread more into the branches of the respiratory tree. This treatment is particularly suitable for the for curing allergic and asthmatic diseases.

BALNEOTHERAPY
The Alloch thermal water, which flows in the Dolomites, has anti-inflammatory, muscle-relaxant, cleansing-soothing, anti-itching, anti-seborrhoeic and keratolytic properties. Alloch water promotes the shedding of the most superficial layers of the skin and stimulates the production of a new healthy, elastic, and soft layer of skin. Balneotherapy can reduce peripheral circulatory stasis, reducing stiffness in muscles and tendons and thereby improving joint function. It is indicated in the prevention and treatment of certain dermatological and vascular diseases and in combination with mud therapy for osteoarticular diseases, it leads to excellent results. The mechanical action of the massage (whirlpool), the temperature and the water’s mineral salts are the therapeutic process of our thermal water.
The cure
Thermal bath in hot tub: treatment in a whirlpool tub containing 250 litres of pure thermal water at a temperature of about 34-37°C and it lasts 15 minutes. The underwater warm and cold air jets stimulate blood circulation. It is recommended, for osteoarticular disorders, after the mud therapy to enhance therapeutic results, for treating muscle contractures, vasculopathies and cellulite.
Hydrotherapy thermal bath with ozone: the treatment is carried out in a whirlpool tub containing 290 litres of thermal water with bubbling jets that stimulates micro-circulation and cellular metabolism. The temperature goes from 36 to 39°C. The synergistic action of Alloch spring thermal waters and ozone stimulate micro-circulation and cellular metabolism. The therapy lasts about 15 minutes.
Hydrotherapy thermal bath with underwater massage: the thermal bath can also be enhanced using a special lance with a pressure water jet for anti-cellulite massage. The water jets reduce swelling and reactivate blood circulation, help with relaxation, and ensure that the underwater massage, performed about 10 centimetres from the body, can properly drain stagnant fluids to the usual disposal routes.
Thermal cave with waterfalls: therapy that uses Alloch spring thermal water. The patient stays for approx. 15 minutes inside the cave shaped room, alternating the two waterfalls, so that the water heats the trapezius muscle in between neck and shoulders. Thanks to an alternating temperature in between 34 and 37°C, the waterfalls reactivate the blood circulation, excellent for emotional and cervical tension release. It is recommended not only for relaxation but also as an adjunctive therapy to mud therapy in cervical pain.
Nebulisation of thermal water in a steam bath: mainly a prevention treatment but also useful for regenerative and detoxifying treatment. The steam bath cleanses the skin much more deeply than an ordinary bath. The body is passed through by an ascending steam shower. This hot/humid treatment with a spray of thermal water droplets at the original temperature, allows pores to dilate and to expel the toxins through intense sweating. For a vigorous detoxification, the Thermal Scientific Committee recommends repeating the treatment 3 times, alternating it with cold showers to stimulate blood circulation, resulting in vascular gymnastics that decongests and reactivate the metabolism. During the performance of the therapy, the thermal staff take care of the patient, who at the end, needs to relax for about 30 to 40 minutes for the thermal “reaction”.
Alternating jets for circulation stimulation: the therapy is carried out by a member of the staff by alternating hot and cold flowing thermal water implemented on the lower limbs for approx. 15 minutes, obtaining an expansion and constriction vessel gymnastics to improve vasomotor function. We recommend matching it with baths in the whirlpool tub and with lymphatic drainage treatments.
Nebulised thermal shower: it is a relaxing treatment where the thermal water is fractionated into small particles. The temperature is about 38°C and the treatment lasts approx. 15 minutes.
Effervescent thermal bath: warm mattress lounger and thermal water nebulisation for those who wish to take a thermal bath without soaking in a tub.
Vascular pathway: photocell-activated path through timed hot and cold-water jets (1to 2 minutes for cold water and 3 to 4 for minutes hot water). The changing in temperature of the water during the path has a “pump” effect on the determined by the alternation of the constriction-dilation of the peripheral vessels blood of the lower limbs. It is also recommended for treating venous ulcers, chronic lymph-venous edema and preventing cellulite. It is recommended in the morning on an empty stomach, alternatively at least 2 hours after a meal for about 15 minutes. Depending on the pathology to be treated, the thermal medical staff recommend balneotherapy, lymphatic drainage massages and draining body treatments as additional therapies.
Indoor thermal rehabilitation pool: the swimming pool consists of two pools. The smallest one has a classic whirlpool at a temperature of 32°C and it is recommended as a first entry to let the body adjust to the temperature of the water. The second nearby pool, has a temperature of about 34°C and a multilevel depth of 100 to 140 cm. It is equipped with chaise lounge with lumbar hydro-massage, two waterfalls for neck and back massage and a motor rehabilitation path with lymphatic drainage hydro-massage and counter current walking. We recommend staying in the pools not more than 20 minutes with a following break of about 10/15 minutes and possibly another immersion if no other treatments are followed. The rehabilitation pool treatment can be combined with the following treatments:
– Mud therapy for osteoarticular disorders (low back pain, cervical pain, etc.)
– Physiotherapy for motor rehabilitation after surgery outcomes or limb injuries
– Thermal hydro-massage, vascular path, gentle jets, Kneipp path, massages
– Lymphatic drainage for vascular pathologies
Benefits:

- Acne
- Venous and arterial circulation problems
- Osteo-articular pathologies (combined with mud therapy)
MUD THERAPY (12 mud packs / starting thermal showers, also in agreement with the National Health Service)
Full or district application of the mud according to the medical prescription. The therapeutic effects of this therapy mainly have an anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, muscle relaxant, de-contracting and eutrophic action, and stimulation of metabolic and protective processes on cartilage components, improving joint mobility. It is also used for chronic rhinopathy with applications of thermal mud onto the sinuses, at a temperature of 38°C.
The cure
The mud we apply on patients is made of a solid part (peloid) and a liquid part (thermal water). The mud is then placed to mature for a minimum of 6 months and undergoes a series of chemical-physical reactions and biological processes that lead it to a process of trans-mineralization. After this process the peloid transforms itself into mature mud. Our mud develops at a temperature of about 10°C. The patient can start the therapy after the digestion process is complete. Terme Dolomia offers the following treatments.
Mudding (soft pack lounger, warm blanket, or lounger): the mud gets evenly distributed on the skin region/regions to be treated according to the doctor’s prescription and then the patient gets covered with a small sheet and wrapped in the warm bed. Each session lasts 20 minutes and the water-bed temperature is 37/39°C. If the patient suffers from vascular disorders, the legs may be covered with a towel to protect them from heat. At the end of the session, the patient undergoes a cleansing shower*
Mudding and hay pack (soft pack lounger or warm blanket): to enhance the mud therapy’s effects we do place a warm hay pack on the kidneys stimulating greater soothing muscle-relaxing, purifying, and draining action. The session lasts 20 minutes at a temperature of 37/39°C. At the end of it, the patient undergoes a cleansing shower*. At the end of both applications, patients carry out the “reaction” -lasting about 10 to 15 minutes – laying on a lounger. The most noticeable effect is the intense sweating that begins during the mudding and continues during the reaction time*.
Warm facial mudding: the mud is heated up and placed on the sinuses for about 15 minutes.
* For synergistic action, additional therapies such as balneotherapy, thermal cave entry, rehabilitation pool entry, postural treatment, and spinal manipulation can be combined. However, at the end of each treatment, a short “reaction” time is recommended.

MOTOR REHABILITATION
Combined with mud therapy, the motor rehabilitation is aimed at recovering and/or improving joint function, muscle strength and tone and range or motion. These may be impaired or reduced because of a degenerative joint disease or after a trauma, orthopaedic surgery, or a neurological accident. Motor rehabilitation includes various forms of muscle activation and all exercises aimed at improving the postural and dynamic aspect of the human body. Classically divided into active and passive for the specific cooperation of the patient.
The cure
Physiotherapy helps maintain and resume daily activities especially after trauma, osteoarticular diseases and operations. A treatment plan is established, depending on the diagnosis. Afterwards, the physiotherapist will perform the rehabilitation treatments necessary for the diagnosed pathology to promote functional rehabilitation.
Tecar: New in physiotherapy and rehabilitation, ‘Human Tecar’ is highly specialised Tecar for exceptional functional recovery: a technique that stimulates energy from within the biological tissues, activating the natural restorative and anti-inflammatory processes.
Electro-stimulation, Tens, Diadynamics, Iontophoresis, Magneto-therapy: treatments developed by new medical technology, for non-invasive physical well-being. Electro-stimulator and tens, to stimulate the nerves of our body and relieve annoying pain. An analgesic benefit is also provided by Diadynamic therapy, for an action that improves the trophism of our tissues. Iontophoresis therapy, on the other hand, allows drugs to be injected into the body in an ionic state, without the use of needles and therefore without pain. The ions combine with certain proteins, thus prolonging the permanence of the medicinal substances in the circulation and enhancing the trophism of the tissues, even deep tissues. Magneto-therapy uses electromagnetic energy to help regenerate tissue and stimulate the body’s natural defences.
Ultrasound, laser therapy: we recreate ultrasound artificially by involving mineral crystals in the action of an alternating current electronic field. The sounds reach your body, to envelop it in a micro-massage, for an analgesic, trophic and relaxing effect on the muscles. Laser therapy, on the other hand, uses the energy of monochromatic laser light sources for a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect.
Hydro kinesiotherapy: wellness that starts with rehabilitation in water by our rehabilitation therapists. The treatment utilises the gentle movement of water for effective joint and functional recovery, allowing controlled movements to be performed under minimal load, reducing pain and recovery time. Water supports a large part of the body’s weight by aiding the execution of movements with proper muscle work. The resulting reduction in body weight also eliminates pain due to loading, so motor rehabilitation can begin early. Equally important is the analgesic effect of water temperatures between 32 and 34°C.
Benefits:
- Pain relief
- Reduction of reactive inflammatory processes
- Maintenance or restoration of joint excursions
- Treatment of muscular hypo-trophy/hypotonia
- Prevention of gait pattern alterations
- Re-training for exertion in case of motor de-conditioning
Indicated for:
- joint pain and inflammations
- recent trauma
- painful symptoms related to rheumatic diseases
- rehabilitation after operations or injuries
Specific treatable pathologies:
- Muscular pain relief
- Reduction of reactive inflammatory processes
- Maintenance or restoration of joint excursions
- Muscular hypo-trophy/hypotonia
- Prevention of gait pattern alterations
- Creating compensation mechanisms to maintain adequate autonomy in daily activities
- Re-training for exertion in case of motor de-conditioning
CONTRA-INDICATIONS
Thermal cures cannot be performed when the pathology to be treated is in an acute phase, incompatibility with drugs taken, heart failure, TB in all its expressions, infectious diseases, ulcers in an active phase, moist, exudative, impetiginous, erythrodermic skin diseases, pregnancy, malignant neoplasms, dysmetabolic and endocrinological diseases. Relapse, intolerance and thermal crisis may still occur during the spa therapy. The thermal crisis or thermal reaction generally appears in the first few days of treatment and consists of a transient reaction to the effect of the thermal waters, the body having to adapt to the therapy by experiencing generalised malaise, soreness and worsening of the condition. It resolves spontaneously within a few days and in some cases suspension of the spa therapy is required. Once it has passed, it even produces an increase in the effectiveness of the treatment, i.e. a marked improvement in the disease follows.

Benefits:
- anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxant effect
- keratolytic effect of the superficial layers of the skin
- rehabilitation of peripheral circulation
Indicated for:
- Atopic dermatitis
- Eczematous dermatitis
- Psoriasis
- Acne
- Venous and arterial circulation problems
- Osteo-articular pathologies (combined with mud therapy)
Specific treatable pathologies:
- Atopic dermatitis
- Eczematous dermatitis

- Acne
- Venous and arterial circulation problems
- Osteo-articular pathologies (combined with mud therapy)
MOTOR REHABILITATION
WHAT DOES IT CONSIST OF
Combined with mud therapy, the motor rehabilitation is aimed at recovering and/or improving joint function, muscle strength and tone and range or motion.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS
When not to undergo spa treatments
