The Alloch thermal water of “bagn da tof” in Sèn Jan di Fassa, is well-known since ancient times to be the only sulphur spring in Trentino. As early as the end of the 15th century (1493) Prince Bishop of Trento Odorico Trundsberg, during his mountain stay in Cavalese, treated himself with mineral water from the “Alloch” spring, a term used to refer to “Cure Place for Minor Deities”. The “Fassa bath house”, which belonged to the episcopal principality of Brixen, was leased to Battista de Zulian in the mid-16th century and, for many years, was attended and used for therapeutic purposes. In 1777, the building was destroyed due to the erosive action of the Avisio stream. After the physicians of the time recognized the therapeutic effects of the water, the building was rebuilt and was intensively attended until the 1930s, when a raging fire destroyed it. In the early 1970s the Zulian family began research work on the ancient Alloch spring. Many investigations and analysis were carried out and the results proved right those who, in the past, had recognized the great therapeutic qualities of the Alloch water.

Features of the Spring
The spring gushes out at 1320 m above sea level from sedimentary rocks of the Monzoni mountains, with a constant flow rate, temperature of 9.5 °C and sulphate-calcium-magnesium-fluoride-sulphurous composition. The balance of thermal minerals, makes Alloch water unique and its therapeutic benefits are the subject of scientific studies, attesting its efficacy in treating various diseases. In July 2003 the Terme Dolomia Spa Centre was officially opened and since then is affiliated with the National Health Service for hydropinic treatment, aerosol therapy and mud therapy.
